Popular blogger and social media commentator Ninye Tabs has reportedly been released on police bond today after spending time in custody. Police bond in Uganda is granted to suspects pending further investigations and does not require any payment. Authorities have not yet issued a detailed statement on the conditions attached to his release. 
Ninye Tabs, whose real name is Andrew Natumanya, has recently been at the center of investigations linked to allegations including reckless driving, causing bodily injury and criminal trespass and unauthorized disclosure of official information Earlier reports indicated that investigators had completed inquiries and were preparing legal action against him. 
According to legal provisions in Uganda, police bond allows a suspect to remain out of custody while investigations continue, provided they report to police whenever required. The process is free of charge and is intended to ensure respect for the rights of suspects before court proceedings begin. 
Supporters of Ninye Tabs welcomed news of his release, with many taking to social media to express relief and call for due process. Others urged authorities to ensure that the matter is handled transparently and in accordance with the law as investigations continue. 
Legal experts have consistently maintained that police bond remains an important safeguard within Uganda’s justice system. They argue that suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty and should not be subjected to prolonged detention without trial. 
As of this evening, Ninye Tabs remains free on police bond while awaiting further police procedures.
