Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, the Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has launched a nationwide mobilisation campaign ahead of the forthcoming NRM LC1 elections, reaffirming the office’s commitment to strengthening grassroots structures despite financial challenges. Speaking during a flag-off ceremony for ONC coordinators at the Kyambogo headquarters on Monday, Namyalo urged party mobilisers to remain focused on delivering victory for the National Resistance Movement at the village level.
During her address, Namyalo revealed that although the NRM Secretariat received Shs50 billion to facilitate party activities, the Office of the National Chairman was initially left out of the allocation despite earlier guidance from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. She explained that after raising the matter with the President, a supplementary budget was approved to enable the ONC to continue executing its nationwide mobilisation and monitoring programmes.
Namyalo expressed gratitude to President Museveni for what she described as his fatherly leadership and commitment to ensuring fairness across all organs of the Movement. She said the President’s intervention reflects his determination to strengthen the NRM from the grassroots, adding that the ONC remains fully committed to advancing his vision through effective political mobilisation, ideological orientation and monitoring of government programmes.
She stressed that financial limitations would not derail the office’s mission, calling on coordinators to remain united, disciplined and committed to serving the people. Namyalo urged them to put aside personal interests and internal differences, emphasising that strong village leadership and effective mobilisation are essential for securing NRM victories in the upcoming LC1 elections. She also called for greater accountability in the management of public resources to ensure government programmes deliver meaningful benefits to ordinary Ugandans.
Acknowledging that the office has previously faced political challenges and attempts to frustrate its work, Namyalo maintained that the ONC would continue working tirelessly to strengthen the party at the grassroots. She encouraged coordinators to remain resilient, uphold the Movement’s principles and intensify mobilisation efforts across the country, expressing confidence that unity, discipline and dedication would position the NRM for success in the forthcoming LC1 polls.
