Scottish brothers Olly and Seb Fisher are on the verge of potentially making history after emerging as promising young footballers eligible to represent Uganda at international level. The teenagers, aged 18 and 16 respectively, currently play for Scottish club Partick Thistle and have already attracted attention from Uganda’s youth national-team setup.
The brothers qualify to represent Uganda through their mother, who was born in the country. Their eligibility has opened the door to an international journey that could see them wear the Uganda Cranes colours while maintaining their football careers in Scotland.
According to BBC Sport Scotland, both players have already been invited to Uganda’s youth training camps, with Olly involved around the U20 setup and Seb being considered for the U17 team. Uganda U20 head coach Laryea Kingston has reportedly told the teenagers that they could become the first white players to represent Uganda at international level.
For Seb, the immediate ambition is to earn a place in Uganda’s U17 squad ahead of the FIFA U17 World Cup scheduled for November in Qatar. At just 16, the opportunity could provide the young defender with an important platform to gain international experience and further develop his football career.
His elder brother Olly, meanwhile, has his sights set on the U20 Africa Cup of Nations. He hopes to establish himself within Uganda’s U20 setup and potentially play a role if the Young Cranes secure qualification for the continental tournament.
