“From Hope to Hurt: Arsenal FC’s Nightmare Three-Week Run” 3. “Cup

Three weeks ago, everything around Arsenal FC still had that glossy “title contenders” shine. Fast forward to now, and it’s less All or Nothing and more Nothing, Again. First came the Carabao Cup final, where Manchester City politely reminded them that ambition and execution are not the same thing. A lesson delivered with the kind of efficiency that suggests it was scheduled well in advance.

Then, just as fans were busy saying “we go again,” along came Southampton FC—yes, a Championship side—to add a bit of humility to the FA Cup journey. Knocked out, just like that. No dramatic fightback, no heroic narrative—just a quiet exit that felt like missing the last train home and pretending you meant to stay out anyway.

Naturally, the league was supposed to be the safe space. A reset. A chance to show character after the international break. Instead, Arsenal FC delivered their first post-break loss like it was part of a carefully curated trilogy: Cup disappointment, Cup embarrassment, and now League frustration. Consistency is key, after all—just perhaps not this kind.

And just when you thought the script couldn’t get any cheekier, along came AFC Bournemouth to put the cherry on top today. Beaten again, because why break the rhythm? At this point, it’s less a dip in form and more a full-blown commitment to the bit. If this is “trusting the process,” then the process might just be trust-falling with no one there to catch you.
