Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), has intensified nationwide mobilisation ahead of the upcoming Local Council II (LC2) elections, urging Ugandans to actively participate in the democratic process. She described the parish-level elections as a critical step in strengthening grassroots leadership and ensuring that communities elect leaders who are committed to service delivery and development.
Addressing supporters and ONC coordinators, Namyalo called on National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters to remain united and rally behind candidates who uphold the party’s principles. She emphasized that strong grassroots leadership is essential for promoting accountability, peace, and the successful implementation of government programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.
Namyalo also appealed to voters to turn out in large numbers on polling day, stressing that every vote matters in shaping effective local leadership. She encouraged communities to elect leaders of integrity who are accessible, capable of addressing local challenges, and committed to advancing socio-economic transformation at the parish level.
The ONC Manager further urged women, youth, and other community groups to actively participate in the elections, noting that inclusive leadership is key to sustainable development. She said the LC2 elections provide an opportunity for citizens to strengthen grassroots governance by electing representatives who understand the needs and aspirations of their communities.
The LC2 elections are scheduled for 10 August 2026, with the ONC continuing its nationwide mobilisation campaign to encourage peaceful participation and support for NRM-aligned candidates. Namyalo reaffirmed her commitment to working with grassroots structures across the country to ensure a transparent, peaceful, and successful electoral process.
