Hon. Justine Nameere, the Woman Member of Parliament aspirant for Masaka, has through her official TikTok account strongly cautioned the PLU Secretary General, Hon. Kabananda David, against undermining the constitutional powers of Parliament and engaging in divisive political rhetoric directed at the Speaker of Parliament. Her remarks come at a time when political tensions and public debate continue to dominate conversations across Uganda’s digital platforms, especially on X and TikTok.
Nameere emphasized that leadership must be guided by mutual respect, institutional integrity, and responsible communication rather than personal attacks and hate speech. She warned that persistent attempts to discredit the Office of the Speaker could weaken public confidence in democratic institutions and create unnecessary political hostility among citizens who look up to national leaders for unity and direction.
According to the outspoken leader, the Speaker of Parliament has consistently demonstrated compassion and commitment towards vulnerable Ugandans through various humanitarian and community empowerment initiatives. She noted that many ordinary citizens have directly benefited from the Speaker’s support in areas such as education assistance, women empowerment, youth development, and emergency relief, achievements which she says cannot be ignored or politically manipulated.
Nameere further argued that several politicians occupying influential government offices have failed to maintain close engagement with the grassroots despite enjoying enormous privileges and authority. She stressed that true leadership is measured not merely by titles and positions, but by the tangible impact one creates in the lives of struggling citizens across the country.
The discussion has since generated significant reactions on both X and TikTok, with many Ugandans expressing mixed opinions regarding the ongoing political exchanges within the ruling structures. While some users defended the right to political criticism, others applauded Justine Nameere for openly advocating for respectful discourse and defending parliamentary independence in the face of increasing political polarization.
As Uganda gradually moves closer to another heated political season, analysts believe such public statements from influential figures will continue shaping online narratives and national conversations. Observers have also called upon political leaders to prioritize constructive dialogue, national cohesion, and issue-based politics that foster development rather than promoting confrontational language capable of dividing citizens.
