As Muslims across Uganda prepare to celebrate Eid, the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), under the leadership of SPA/PA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, is once again set to roll out a massive nationwide food distribution campaign aimed at uplifting vulnerable Muslim families. The exercise, which will be officially flagged off at the ONC headquarters in Kyambogo, Kampala, is expected to benefit thousands of households with cattle, rice, sugar, posho, cooking oil, spaghetti, milk, and other essential food items donated by well-wishers of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Over the years, Hajjat Namyalo has established herself as one of the government’s most visible figures in community outreach and humanitarian mobilization, particularly during the holy months of Ramadan and Eid al-Adha. Through ONC-led initiatives, she has consistently extended relief support to mosques, Islamic institutions, university students, imams, and underprivileged families across Kampala Metropolitan and other parts of the country. Her charity drives have increasingly become synonymous with compassion, solidarity, and grassroots engagement among Uganda’s Muslim communities.

This year’s Eid campaign is expected to build on previous successful distributions that saw hundreds of cattle slaughtered and shared among fasting and celebrating Muslim faithful in districts including Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Mbale, Arua, Masaka, and Busoga. According to ONC officials, the initiative seeks not only to provide meals for Eid celebrations but also to restore dignity and hope to families struggling with economic hardships during the festive season.

Speaking during earlier Ramadan outreach programs, Hajjat Namyalo emphasized that acts of charity reflect the true spirit of Islam and national unity. She has repeatedly encouraged communities to embrace compassion, responsible family values, and economic empowerment while appreciating President Museveni’s continued support toward vulnerable Ugandans. Her engagements have also gone beyond food relief, extending into tuition support for students, youth empowerment initiatives, and partnerships with religious leaders to strengthen social cohesion.

The upcoming Eid distribution campaign has already generated excitement among Muslim faithful and local leaders, many of whom describe Hajjat Namyalo’s interventions as timely and transformative. Several mosque leaders have previously praised ONC for ensuring transparency and fairness during the distribution exercises, saying the support enables thousands of believers to celebrate sacred Islamic occasions with happiness and dignity despite financial challenges.

As preparations intensify ahead of the launch in Kyambogo, anticipation continues to grow across different communities expected to benefit from the exercise. For many vulnerable families, the annual ONC Eid food support has evolved into more than a charitable gesture; it has become a symbol of solidarity, remembrance, and hope during one of the most spiritually significant periods on the Islamic calendar.
