Mawokota North Member of Parliament Amelia Kyambadde today showered praise upon the incoming Speaker, Right Honourable Oboth Oboth, during a thanksgiving ceremony held in Kyungu, Mukono, where she attended as an invited guest. Speaking with admiration and confidence, Kyambadde described Oboth Oboth as a disciplined, visionary, and principled leader whose elevation to the prestigious office marks the beginning of a new era for Uganda’s Parliament. She emphasized that his calm temperament, intellectual depth, and unwavering commitment to national service make him exceptionally suited for the demanding role ahead.

Kyambadde further noted that the emergence of Oboth Oboth into the speakership presents a powerful opportunity to intensify the fight against corruption, not only within Parliament but across various government institutions. According to her, Uganda requires leaders who are fearless, transparent, and capable of restoring public trust in national governance structures. She expressed confidence that Oboth Oboth possesses the moral authority and administrative competence necessary to champion accountability, integrity, and ethical leadership at the highest levels of government.

The thanksgiving event gained even greater political significance after David Kabanda PLU Secretary General

officially announced Oboth Oboth before jubilant supporters and leaders gathered in Kyungu, Mukono. The announcement was received with excitement and optimism from the crowd, many of whom described Oboth Oboth as a unifying figure capable of bridging political divisions and fostering constructive dialogue within the August House. His reputation as a composed and strategic legislator has continued to inspire confidence among both senior and youthful members of Parliament.

Political observers at the event highlighted that a new Speaker with the qualities of Oboth Oboth could usher in a more disciplined and productive Parliament. His leadership is expected to strengthen parliamentary debates, encourage respect for institutional procedures, and ensure that legislative processes are conducted with dignity and professionalism. Many believe that under his stewardship, Parliament could regain greater public confidence through transparent decision-making and impartial leadership.

Amelia Kyambadde also stressed that Oboth Oboth has the potential to empower younger legislators by nurturing a culture of mentorship, patriotism, and responsible politics. She noted that Uganda’s democracy can only flourish when leaders prioritize national interests above partisan conflicts. In her remarks, she described him as a leader capable of creating harmony among members, encouraging issue-based politics, and promoting mature engagement on matters affecting ordinary Ugandans.

Furthermore, supporters believe that Oboth Oboth’s leadership could strengthen Parliament’s oversight role over government expenditure and service delivery. With effective stewardship from the Speaker’s chair, committees are expected to operate more efficiently, ensuring that public resources are utilized responsibly and that ministries remain accountable to the people. Such reforms, according to leaders present at the function, would contribute greatly toward improving governance standards and accelerating national development.

As celebrations continued throughout the thanksgiving ceremony, the atmosphere reflected hope, unity, and renewed political enthusiasm. Leaders and supporters alike expressed belief that Oboth Oboth’s rise symbolizes a fresh chapter characterized by integrity, inclusiveness, and visionary leadership. With growing confidence from senior political figures such as Amelia Kyambadde, many Ugandans now anticipate a Parliament that is more responsive, disciplined, and firmly committed to serving the interests of the nation.
