Hajjat Namyalo’s Nationwide Empowerment Campaign Wins Praise from Incoming Speaker Oboth-Oboth

Defence and Veterans Affairs Minister Jacob Marksons Oboth-Oboth praised Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye for the outstanding mobilisation work she carried out through the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), saying her efforts greatly contributed to strengthening support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) across the country. He made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony held at his residence in Mukono after receiving endorsement for the position of Speaker of Parliament.

Oboth-Oboth noted that Hajjat Namyalo and the ONC structure played a major role in mobilising Ugandans ahead of the recently concluded elections by empowering youth, women and vulnerable groups with start-up capital, skilling programs and economic support initiatives in different regions of Uganda. He said the mobilisation campaigns helped popularise President Museveni’s message and strengthened grassroots support for what supporters described as his seventh term in office.

According to leaders within the NRM and the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Hajjat Namyalo became one of the most visible mobilisers of the “Tova Ku Main” campaign, which encouraged President Museveni to remain on the ballot for the 2026 elections. Senior NRM officials previously commended her for reviving party support among the “Bazzukulu” through nationwide mobilisation drives and vote protection campaigns organised under ONC.

Oboth-Oboth further applauded Hajjat Namyalo for extending empowerment programs to his West Budama constituency, saying many youth and local communities benefited from wealth-creation initiatives championed by ONC. He explained that the support improved livelihoods and strengthened confidence in the NRM leadership at the grassroots level during the election period.

During the Mukono thanksgiving ceremony, several NRM leaders and Members of Parliament openly endorsed Oboth-Oboth for the Speakership of the 12th Parliament. The event attracted hundreds of MPs, ministers and senior government officials, with PLU Secretary General Daudi Kabanda revealing that President Museveni had endorsed Oboth-Oboth for the top parliamentary seat.

Political leaders at the function described Oboth-Oboth as a loyal and disciplined cadre who had served government diligently in the Defence ministry. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba had earlier praised him as one of the best-performing ministers in government and publicly endorsed him for Speaker of Parliament, a move that intensified political discussions within the NRM ahead of the election of parliamentary leadership.

Oboth-Oboth concluded by thanking President Museveni, Hajjat Namyalo, PLU leaders and all NRM supporters for standing with him throughout his political journey. He said the unity shown during the thanksgiving ceremony demonstrated the strength of the ruling party and its commitment to maintaining stability, service delivery and mobilisation efforts across Uganda.
