The Office of the National Chairman (ONC) continues to monitor and evaluate the impact of the Parish Development Model (PDM) across various communities in Uganda. As part of this ongoing initiative, the Mukono ONC Coordinator, John Baptist Wamala, visited Natabuliliwa in Mukono District, where he interacted with Mr. Muganja Elmand Mubiru, a resident of Buwanyi Village and one of the beneficiaries of the government’s transformative poverty alleviation program.
Before benefiting from the Parish Development Model, Mr. Muganja faced significant economic challenges despite his determination to improve his household income through goat rearing. His livestock enterprise had dwindled to a single goat after the unfortunate loss of another animal, making it difficult for him to expand his project and achieve meaningful financial progress. Nevertheless, he remained committed to his dream of overcoming poverty through agriculture and livestock farming.
Inspired by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s message encouraging citizens to embrace the Parish Development Model as a pathway out of poverty, Mr. Muganja applied for PDM support in 2024 and successfully received one million shillings. He prudently invested the funds in the purchase of three goats, laying a stronger foundation for his livestock enterprise and demonstrating the productive use of government support aimed at wealth creation.
Today, Mr. Muganja’s success story stands as a testament to the effectiveness of the Parish Development Model. Through careful management and dedication, his goat population has grown from four to eight goats, with four additional goats expected to produce offspring in the near future. This remarkable progress highlights the potential of the PDM program to stimulate household income, enhance financial resilience, and create sustainable economic opportunities for ordinary Ugandans.
During his interaction with the ONC Coordinator, Mr. Muganja expressed profound gratitude to President Museveni for championing the Parish Development Model, which he credits for significantly improving his family’s livelihood and reducing poverty within his household. He further encouraged fellow Ugandans to embrace and utilize PDM funds responsibly, emphasizing that the program offers a practical and empowering avenue for communities to achieve socio-economic transformation and long-term prosperity.
