The Parish Development Model (PDM) continues to demonstrate its transformative potential by empowering households with the resources needed to transition from subsistence farming to sustainable wealth creation. Yesterday, Mr. Ssebuggwawo Faizo, the ONC-Coordinator for Masaka , conducted a monitoring visit to two committed PDM beneficiaries, Mr. Matovu Yusuf and Mr. Kagimu Abasi, to assess the progress and impact of the programme on their agricultural enterprises.

Mr. Matovu Yusuf, a dedicated coffee farmer, received UGX 1 million through the PDM in 2025 and invested the funds strategically to strengthen his production capacity. His investment in fertilisers, additional farm tools, spraying equipment, and the employment of five labourers reflects the programme’s emphasis on productive investment rather than consumption. His deliberate approach has enhanced the management of his coffee plantation and positioned him for increased productivity.

Likewise, Mr. Kagimu Abasi has exemplified prudent utilisation of the PDM funds by purchasing quality fertilisers and expanding his coffee enterprise through the establishment of additional coffee seedlings. His commitment to reinvesting in agriculture underscores the growing confidence among beneficiaries that the Parish Development Model provides a reliable pathway towards commercial farming and long-term household prosperity.

Both beneficiaries expressed unwavering optimism about the forthcoming harvesting season, anticipating significantly improved yields and increased household incomes. Their success stories serve as compelling evidence that when PDM resources are utilised responsibly and accompanied by hard work, discipline, and proper planning, they become powerful instruments for economic empowerment, employment creation, and improved standards of living for rural communities.

The monitoring visit by Mr. Ssebuggwawo Faizo reaffirmed the importance of continuous engagement with beneficiaries to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective implementation of government programmes. The Parish Development Model is steadily translating the vision of the Government of Uganda into tangible results by equipping ordinary citizens with the means to create wealth, enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic transformation of Masaka City and the nation at large.
