The Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua

joined H.E Jessica Rose Epel Alupo yesterday at the prestigious Serena Hotel for the launch of Moments with Mzee (H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni), an extraordinary pictorial publication authored by renowned presidential photographer Abu Mwesigwa. He noted that the occasion represented far more than a conventional book launch, describing it as a celebration of Uganda’s political history, artistic excellence, and the enduring significance of visual storytelling in shaping national consciousness.

He explained that the publication presented a compelling visual chronicle of the life and leadership of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, capturing defining moments from national ceremonies, political campaigns, state conferences, diplomatic engagements, and key milestones in Uganda’s transformation journey. According to him, the carefully curated photographs reflected decades of leadership, resilience, patriotism, and national progress, all documented with exceptional precision and artistic sophistication.

Hon. Obua further observed that the work elevated photography beyond a mere artistic expression and transformed it into a historical archive of immense national importance. He remarked that every image within the publication conveyed emotion, context, and historical meaning, preserving moments that had significantly contributed to shaping Uganda’s socio-political identity. He added that the book served both as a tribute to visionary leadership and as a timeless repository of the nation’s evolving story.

He also emphasized that the publication offered profound inspiration to Uganda’s creative arts industry, particularly to emerging photographers across the country. He praised Abu Mwesigwa’s dedication, discipline, and mastery of visual communication, stating that his work exemplified the transformative role photography could play in documenting leadership, governance, and national development. He further noted that the publication underscored the importance of patience, professionalism, creativity, and consistency in building a legacy capable of transcending generations.

The Government Chief Whip reportedly highlighted the indispensable contribution of the arts and media sector in preserving collective memory and promoting national heritage. He stated that in an era increasingly shaped by visual communication, publications such as Moments with Mzee remained invaluable instruments for education, inspiration, and cultural preservation. He added that such works reminded society of photography’s unique ability to immortalize moments that words alone could never fully capture.

In conclusion, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua commended Abu Mwesigwa for what he described as an outstanding contribution to Uganda’s historical and creative landscape. He stated that the publication not only honoured the leadership journey of H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni but also established a powerful benchmark for aspiring creatives throughout the nation. He expressed hope that the work would inspire a new generation of photographers and storytellers to pursue excellence, embrace innovation, and continue documenting Uganda’s rich and evolving narrative.
